Preserving Flowers -Floral India

It is great to get the gift of flowers, and when you do a lot of times it is for a very meaningful situation. If you got flowers for a birthday or an anniversary or just for any occasion and you want to save them, learn how you can dry and preserve your flowers. There are many different ways that you can do this. Find out what option will work best for the flowers you have, and preserve the memories forever. There are a few different ways that you can preserve them through pressing and drying the flowers.

To dry flowers you can generally do it one of two ways. The easiest way is to usually hang the flowers. When you hang them, you want to tie them upside down and let them dry. If it is a larger bouquet, you will want to take it apart into a few smaller bunches, so that they will dry quicker and more evenly. Otherwise, you can also air dry the flowers. A window screen works well for this, as it allows air to circulate around the flowers. Place them in a simple layer and let them dry out. This will generally take a week or so. Either one of these are great ways to get those flowers dried out so that you can save them for later.
Another way to preserve flowers is to press them. There are flower presses that you can purchase that works more like a vice and squeezes the different layers together to get a great press. You can press them in between a book if you don’t have a flower press, just be sure that you are layering it with something, so put the petals in between parchment paper or waxed paper and it will help keep them safe once they are pressed. This is also a great way to save them, and when you press flowers you can use them to put in scrapbooks and other things.
Other people like to turn their flowers into potpourri. To make potpourri, you need to first dry out the flowers. You will either want to hang them, air dry them, or press them. Once you’ve done that you want to be very careful not to break the petals, otherwise there will be no point in using them. Once you have dried the flowers how you want to, you’ll need to add essential oils, spices and herbs. This will help make everything smell great. From here, put it wherever you want it to and watch the smells fill the room.
Keeping your flowers as a keepsake is pretty common. There are a few different ways that you can do this. Whether you are going to press them or dry them or even turn them into potpourri, you can keep them around for much longer than the flowers will last alive. Save special occasion flowers and use them to make keepsakes, put them in scrapbooks, and much more. Don’t just toss out flowers after you get them.
